Polycarbonate
Enclosures in comparison to other non-metallic enclosures are more
impact resistant, durable (UV resistant), and easier to modify. The
injection molding process of polycarbonate enables pricing to be
20-25% less. Polycarbonate enclosures are used in harsh
environments such as waste water treatment, irrigation/water
control, solar/wind, chemical plants, and outdoor wireless
installations. Solutions Direct distributes two manufacturers of
polycarbonate enclosures: Allied Moulded and Fibox. These
enclosures are UL and CSA compliant and meet IP 65, 66, 67 as well
as NEMA Type 4, 4X, 6, and 6P ratings.

4X Rating: Indoor or outdoor use to provide a degree of
protection against splashing water, windblown dust and rain, hose
directed water; undamaged by the formation of ice on the enclosure,
resists corrosion. (IP66)
- NEMA
6 Rating: Indoor or outdoor use to provide a degree of
protection against the entry of water during temporary submersion
at a limited depth; undamaged by the formation of ice on the
enclosure. (IP67)
- NEMA
6P Rating: Indoor and outdoor use to provide a degree of
protection against the entry of water during prolonged submersion
at a limited depth; that provides an additional level of protection
against corrosion and that will be undamaged by the external
formation of ice on the enclosure. (IP68)
