Fixed-Mount Noncontact Infrared Temperature Sensors
Noncontact
infrared temperature sensors measure the energy radiated from an
object, without touching it. This allows for quick and safe
measurement of the temperature of objects that are moving,
extremely hot, or difficult to reach. This measurement technique is
important in applications where contact would damage or alter the
surface, such as a sheet of plastic film, or contaminate the
product, such as in food processing. Unlike contact sensors,
noncontact infrared sensors provide faster response times,
repeatable measurements, and improved accuracy control.
The Raytek Compact series of sensors are low-cost, easy-to-install,
and integrate into existing process control systems. This series of
sensors range from the basic CI sensor up to the highly versatile
MI3 sensor. Noncontact infrared sensors can be used in the
following applications: blow molding, bonding, coating, converting,
curing, drying, embossing, extrusion, forming, heating, laminating,
molding, ovens, paint drying, paving, printing, and
thermoforming.
